1. What strong points does the speaker have? I think she is strong in the way that she gets people’s attentions really well. For the opening she grabbed our attention with a hook, and in the conclusion she grabbed our attention again with a quote.
2. How well did the audience get to know the speech subject? I was able to learn about the interesting things that we could do in Sri Lanka. I had not much information about it, but after the presentation I was able to know about its capital, location, weather, and what it is famous for.
3. Did the speech reflect adequate preparation? Yes. What she presented (basic information about the country, what it is famous for, famous places to visit, and programs that tourists can enjoy) were adequate. It was very clearly mentioned with the help of visual aids.
4. Did the speaker talk clearly and audibly? Yes, I was able to hear her clearly and audibly. Maybe the only and minor thing that I can pick on is that there were perhaps some um’s and a’s that might interrupt people hearing. (It is just a minor thing.)
5. Did the speech have a definite opening, body, and conclusion? Yes, she began with a few questions when opening the speech (opening). Then she talked about the basic information about Sri Lanka, its tea drinking culture, famous places (attractions), and events like spa and massage (body). Lastly she ended her speech with a quote (conclusion).
6. Please comment on the speaker’s use of notes/eye contact. First she seemed to look too frequently on her notes, but after a minute or so, she did good with eye contacts.
7. What could the speaker have done differently that would have improved the speech? Watching out for casual expressions like um’s and a’s would definitely improve her speech.
8. What did you like about the presentation? I liked how she mentioned the specific names of places and programs that the tourists can follow. Her visual aids on power points were good. Lastly, the way she concluded her speech (using a quote) was very unique and interesting.
